This is the first review I have ever made on Google. I have been to this salon 3-4 times - I come when I visit at my family's condominium. I got my hair done here for my wedding last year which was wonderful, the staff was great and friendly and I love the products. This, however, was a much different experience. I made an appointment same day to get a blow out for my 1 year wedding anniversary, we planned a special dinner at Henderson Park Inn. They got me right in. I checked in when I arrived and no one offered me a drink - typically they offer a water, tea or glass of wine for clients. Oh well, whatever. Then I am taken back to get a wash by my stylist Patti. She immediately reacts to the amount of hair I have (it's a lot), I get a tough, tangly wash that was less than relaxing - commenting that I must spend a lot of money on products. She then proceeds to yank out my hair as she combs it out - obviously frustrated that what she thought would be an easy blowout at daysend was in fact going to be a lot of work. She asks me if I've ever been to an Aveda salon - yes. She tells me she will have to use a flatiron to get it straight - I asked for a round brush initially, I said ok bc I didn't want to piss her off. I have an Aveda stylist at home - thick curly hair is easily dried with a round brush and it looks much nicer. Plus, I can flatiron my own hair at home.. While she's blowing it out she's aggressively moving my head around, asked me to move my butt to the end of the chair and hunch down because she's too short and it's hurting her shoulder - ok again... I ask if the chair goes any lower, she says no - but later on in the process she does in fact move it down further.. She isn't talking to me, she's surly and almost scowling, but must have realized that she was being rude to a client because she proceeds to ask me, awkwardly if I was a stay at home mom. What? Then what I did for work and for the 2nd time if I went to an Aveda salon at home (yes, again). We finally finish, and at check out I notice that on the pricing sheet that wash and blow dry are $25-35 depending on the level of stylist, but I'm charged $45. I've been charged more for having more hair before, but I highly doubt she was a senior level stylist given her level of professionalism and she should have told me. Alas the last thing she said to me was - god bless your hair stylist at home.. Ok. I wish I had the guts to not tip her at all - I was uncomfortable, in pain, awkward and feeling guilty the whole time I should have been really enjoying the experience with a friendly stylist. One thing I will say is that the blow out was really good, so despite the experience she did a very good job. However, not worth it - there are plenty of places that give good blowouts and are happy to take my business.
Love the atmosphere and decor, and the incredibly friendly and organized. Tricia does an amazing job. She's always fun, trendy, has unique ideas, and is always willing to try something new. She really strives for the satisfaction of her clients and takes pride in her work. Highly recommend!
